  Having a fiddle with Unreal Engine For this programming lesson, we were meant to be doing a practical lesson, where we fiddled around with Unreal Engine. We were getting used to the controls & the overall UI. For materials we had to save them (I dont remember the controls & hotkeys very well) Our teacher told us, she told us to find a game level or map that we can, using the functions & hotkeys we were taught, greybox a game level of a choosing. UE4 wasn't working for me so, someone next to me shared their computer with me.  We decided to the first "Cube & Button" test chamber from Portal. Here's the original version: And, here is our greybox version of the first test chamber (see image below) Overall, we nailed the accuracy and we're both are happy with the final result.

  Understanding Games in Culture - Task 2 When Portal 2 was announced in 2011, it definitely grew a lot of attention due to the success of the first game, Portal. Many gamers became huge fans of the two-portal, puzzle platformer and wanted more. Not, just puzzles but, more of the story as well. As the first game had a deeper meaning than just a series of puzzles featuring portals.  To summarise the first game; Chell, the main protagonist of the game, wakes up in the lab, Aperture Science. She's selected to participate in a series of tests, using the portal gun to help guide her way. As you're playing as Chell, you realise that the facility seems bare & empty, unitl you're greeted by an A.I Supercomputer, GLaDOS. She provides an introduction to the testing track before you begin & will provide some guidance to help further along. At the end, she was promised cake. Shot Sizes

  Shot Sizes Shot Sizes are used to help set the scene in films & TV, its used very frequently to help people guide themselves in what's happening in a scene, but the shot sizes must be perfect or else the audience will not know what's happening or find it uncomfortable watching. There are many different shot sizes which can be conveniently used for certain scenes. I'll explain the different types of shot sizes; Extreme Long (Wide) Shot Extreme Long Shots are used at the start of films to set the scene. Usually, these types of scenes would be filmed from a distance. If the shot's filmed at a city it would be the outsides of a city or suburbs. If a character's in it, they'd usually be very small.  In this example, we see an adventurer, walking in the snow and there's huge mountains around him, the vast sky above him & the adventurer is very small.
