 Playtesting Itch.io Games

Just Shut Up & Drive

Shut Up & Drive is a free game on Itch.Io available for Windows & Mac. It's a 2d racing game where you've to race to the finish line in 1st place. It's a very fast pace game and you go over 200km/h.

Game Mechanics

Some of the game mechanics include;

  • WASD to move forwards, backwards & sideways.
  • You can crash other vehicles & overtake cars.
  • You'll go slow if you drive off the course, in the grass or sand, depending on each level.
How it feels to play the game

The gameplay feels very intense, mainly due to the fact that the car is going at a very high speed in the game, it was a very huge adrenaline rush to the system and wasn't able to cope those high speeds. Although it's a very addicting game.

A Grand Story

A Grand Story was another Itch.io game I playtested. It's about a lonely grandma who's living in a broken home & is expecting a letter from her grandson as it's almost Christmas. The game itself shows an effective reminder to keep in touch with family & to never keep your relatives, especially your elder ones in the dark.

Game Mechanics

The game mechanics consist of;
  • WASD to move around
  • Left click to do an action such as lifting logs and placing them in a fireplace, watering plants, feeding the pet cat etc.,
  • Day by day you have to accomplish chores such as flipping the calendar to the current date, lifting up wooden logs & placing them in a fireplace. You do all of this by left clicking. And each time you accomplish all of your chores, you have a mood counter and it'll increase.

How it feels to play the game?

Although some of the gameplay seems a bit slow, you're playing a grandma so, it makes sense that you're going at a walking speed. But I did enjoy every minute of it and I loved the ending of it as the grandma did receive a letter from her grandson & that he's coming home for Christmas.
