What is the game about?

Darkest Dungeons is a Gothic RPG, developed by Red Hook Games and was released on January 19th 2016. In the game, the main player leads a team of Heroes, crawling through a dungeon, entering rooms, interacting with objects, loots and upgrades and, last but not least, you get to right with monsters with your team of Heroes. You can use the loot to upgrade your weapons and armour. For this pre-brief assignment, I'll be focusing on the "Heroes" characters.

Main Plot

The main player has to lead a bunch of characters known as Heroes, five hundred feet below the surface whilst fighting monsters of all kinds along the way. It can put the stress and tension in the player as they fight, battle after battle.

What are the Heroes?

The Heroes are an arrangement of characters where the player (who operates them mechanically but is not actually in the game), can use to assemble parties and expeditions to explore dungeons. The Heroes are divided into several classes depending on what skills they offer which enhance their appearance and their ability to fight. 

Each Hero character has six different stats which is determined by the weapons they use & what class their in. However it can be changed if a hero's weapon is upgraded.

  • Grave Robber
  • Hellion
  • Highway Man
  • Houndmaster

  • Leper

Sculpting in Blender In Blender, our teacher showed us the sculpting tab. The Sculpting Tab in Blender is used to sculpt meshes, mainly for making realistic human models or for adding details to food models like odd crevices to a doughnut. Before getting used to Blender's Sculpting Tab, we messed around with many of the sculpting tools such as the inflate, etc., And then, for a little task, we had to have two cube meshes in the viewport. Then, I renamed both meshes, one naming "cube_low" and the other "cube_high". Then I selected mesh "cube_high", added in a Sub-Surf Modifier, and added loop cuts and brought them right to the original edges of the cube mesh. The reason why this was done is because, when applying a Sub-Surf modifier to a cube, it deforms it, making it look like an odd cylinder. TARDIS Compositing Project

  TARDIS Compositing Project Plan/Idea I've seen several renders of people compositing their TARDIS models on shots from various models from Doctor Who, even on-set photos. I sometimes see TARDIS composite renders in other movies, such as Bladerunner 2049 .  I wanted to do something a little different by taking actual photos of Leicester City Centre, and composite my TARDIS 3d model in those photos instead. I asked my friend, Bhadir ( bhadir.jpg on Instagram), who is a photographer and he is able to help me out with this project. Unfortunately, he is studying in London but, when he's able to come to Leicester, we'll be able to take some photos of the city centre. Bhadir has advised me to consider doing a "recce" (reconnaissance), which means surveying the area to get a good idea of what the it is, how we could take the photo, etc,. from my understanding and I do agree with him.   Chase Yourself Project For this project, I've been asked, by my VFX teacher, to film  a short film. The project is called "Chase Yourself".  See "Chase Yourself Documents" Blog for evidence of the Tasks done. In this project, the film is about you chasing yourself. And I'd like to think of this is a way of testing our knowledge in filming, composition & editing. Task 1 - Pre-Production Documents Pre-Production is a way of planning your short film, before actually filming it. These consists of;  Treatment Plan- A way of setting out, what your short film will be like, who'll be featured in it, the basic plot, who's the targeted audience etc, Gantt Chart - A sheet to schedule each section of a project.
